Yellow Rock Behavioral Health offers a psychiatric residential treatment facility (PRTF) program for male adolescents ages 13-17. This program, which is located on our campus in Springdale, Arkansas, is led by team members who are dedicated to providing personalized services that address each adolescent’s social, academic, and psychiatric needs.
Who We Serve in Our Adolescent PRTF Program
Our adolescent PRTF program in Springdale, Arkansas, is available for young males who are suffering from mental health concerns, including:
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other trauma-related concerns
- Oppositional defiant disorder (ODD)
- Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
- Personality disorders
We also provide care for young people who have dual diagnoses and those who are struggling with problematic sexual behaviors. Adolescents who have histories of complex trauma or significant behavioral issues can benefit from care in our male adolescent psychiatric residential treatment facility program.
Patients who enter our PRTF program must meet the following criteria:
- Ages 13-17
- Biological males
- IQ 70 or above preferred
Exclusionary Criteria for Our PRTF Program
We do a case-by-case review of every patient before they enter our PRTF. To make sure that we are providing structured care that meets the specific needs of our patients, we are typically unable to offer care for adolescents who meet the following exclusionary criteria:
- Severe physical aggression
- Require high-level hospital care
- Severe sexual aggression or predatory behavior
- Medical instability or immobility
- Complex care needs (e.g., patients who need feeding tubes or those who have PICA, insulin-dependent diabetes, and seizure disorders)
- Severe psychosis that requires daily psychiatric evaluation
Adolescents who have a primary diagnosis of a substance use disorder will also not be suitable for care in our PRTF program.

On-Campus Educational Services
We provide comprehensive on-site education through a fully accredited Arkansas school program. Educational services are delivered by certified teachers in collaboration with behavioral health associates, ensuring both academic instruction and behavioral support throughout the school day.
- Students follow a curriculum that is aligned with Arkansas state standards for their grade level.
- Individualized education programs (IEPs) and 504 Plan accommodations are fully implemented and monitored.
- All students are formally enrolled in the local public school district, which provides program oversight and ensures compliance with state education requirements.
In addition to providing academic services, we encourage student leadership and engagement through a student council, which meets bimonthly and participates in the facility’s performance improvement meetings to provide youth perspective and input.
